Yes you heard me right. Some ass in Dubai decided to further wreak havoc on the planet and install pipes under the sand that contain a refrigerant. Frankly the story makes me so angry that it was difficult to even read it.
One thing to note is that if you can actually get through the article there are some good quotes by someone who apparently thinks this is ridiculous as well.
““Dubai is like a bubble world where the things that are worrying the rest of the world, like climate change, are simply ignored so that people can continue their destructive lifestyles,” she said.
Aided by cheap oil and gas, Middle Eastern nations have poured enormous resources into controlling temperature. About 60% of Dubai’s huge power bill is for air-conditioning; each person living there has a carbon footprint of more than 44 tons of CO2 a year.”
To me this is one of those articles that doesn't “make me think” it just makes me sick.

Hi Shane, great post and Irish name. These people are so wasteful, it makes me angry as well.
Oh my word, what is wrong with the people over there.
And to think that we helped build this monster of a country with all our oil dollars
hmm reminds me of a Dr Seus story........:-( hard to believe.......what money can't buy...
The phrase "ultra rich" just makes me shiver. There is no reason why there is such disparity of wealth in this world. It does feel like the Lorax of Dr Seuss. I hope we don't chop down every tree and I really hope we can recover after stuff like this is done.
I was just thinking it would sort of be like air conditioning the outside of your house.
Why not?
Ok... please don't!
All the excess over there is incredible, it's just hard to imagine such waste.
